Frequently Asked Questions

With Lionscrest we do not bill you for taxes on your package with us. If you are booking an Inclusive package additional taxes will apply for the catering, cake, liquor and florist. The tax rates are based on the vendors business location not the town of Lyons. Each vendor will bill you directly for the additional tax based on the items you book with them. Feel free to contact them for more information about these rates.

See Vendor Resource page for vendor information.

There is no additional charge to have your ceremony at Lionscrest Manor. We include the set-up of our standard ceremony chairs for up to 250 guests as well. You do have the option to upgrade to white folding chairs for your outdoor service for an additional fee.

Due to our mountain setting it is far too great of a risk for a wildfire we do not allow any fireworks or sparklers at our events. All outdoor candle use must be approved with us. Smoking is only permitted in the designated areas (outdoor fountain courtyard or Maison du Lion).

We only have one event at a time. This is what makes Lionscrest so private!

At this time we do not require you to attain insurance but it is suggested to protect yourself from any issues or damages that may arise at the event. We suggest that you speak with your homeowners insurance provider about policy options or check out WedSafe.com for an independent policy.

You may purchase alcohol from whereever you like. The caterer is the one who serves the alcohol and therefore carries liquor liability insurance. We do have recommendations for liquor stores on our Resource Page. B Town Wine + Spirits will deliver for the event, purchase back-unopened liquor as well as offer re-delivery during the event. No cash bars are allowed.

In the event of inclement weather Lionscrest staff and the catering staff will be aware of your back-up plans and can move everything indoors in 15 to 20 minutes. These are issues that you will discuss at your Details Meeting and Rehearsal. We also provide road maintenance for our off-season events should plowing or sanding be required.

Many couples ask what the Details Meeting is when they notice it on their contract, brochure, website, and so on. This is an appointment that is typically scheduled approximately 45 days before your wedding. At this hour-and-a-half-long appointment, you will meet with a Lionscrest staff member as well as your chosen caterer to go through all of the details for your event. This includes the timeline, floor plan, linen color choices, estimated guest count, vendor information, and event details.

This appointment must be scheduled with the caterer directly, as each caterer travels between multiple venues. This appointment is meant to gather details for your event portfolio and does work best when the meeting is kept to just our staff, the caterer, and the couple (if both bride and groom cannot attend, a family member or friend may take their place). We do ask that no other vendors (excluding coordinators) attend this meeting.
After this meeting, all of the information collected will be posted on your personal planning site for you to review. Please contact Lionscrest Manor with any questions regarding the planning site.

All retainer fees are non-refundable. Please refer to your contract or a Lionscrest representative for a breakdown of our cancelation policies should additional payments have been made.

We provide one event supervisor who will be onsite to assist with the rehearsal, event set-up, onsite ceremony organization, transition to reception and event cleanup. This staff member is not a coordinator. If you feel that you would like to hire the services of a coordinator we can give you many recommendations. Lionscrest also provides parking attendants who will greet your guests and show them where to park. These staff members are also onsite for the event to assist with set-up, event transitions and dishes.

Once you book your event at Lionscrest, you may schedule your one-hour rehearsal for the Wednesday evening or Friday morning before your wedding. We hold all rehearsals during these timeframes because we do book so many events Thursday through Monday. You, your family, and wedding party may attend this rehearsal where you can drop off items for the event (a list of items allowed will be provided at your Details Meeting), practice the ceremony processional and recessional, and go through general information regarding the order of events. If you have members that cannot attend this rehearsal, we will provide notes that you may use if you choose to have another rehearsal off site closer to your event date. Otherwise, the day of Lionscrest supervisor can be available during the setup time to review this information with anyone that missed the rehearsal.

The caterer is the one who provides the bartender and carries the liquor liability. The bartender will set-up, re-stock, serve and tear-down the bar.
