Molly and Curt are a true “Colorado” couple and they wanted a Colorado Mountain Wedding to match their passion. The bride wrote to us with her take on not only her wedding day but the proposal and planning process as well.

The Proposal…
It was a beautiful Sunday in February 2011. One of those days that reminds you that spring in the mountains in right around the corner. I was a figure skater growing up and was always asking Curt to go ice skating with me. Well…on this particular day, I should have realized something was up because he asked me if I wanted to go skating in Evergreen on a pond surrounded by the mountains. Of course, I was ecstatic at the thought of this actually happening and ran to get my skates.
I was getting tired of spinning and jumping and decided to sit down on the ice to take in the beauty of the day. I was giggling to myself watching Curt attempt to skate around in a circle. He looked like he was concentrating so hard. He asked me to come over to him, and as I was skating over to him, he got down on one knee and proposed! It couldn’t have been a more perfect proposal!
The Planning…
Once we enjoyed a few weeks of engaged life, it was time to start the planning process by looking for the right wedding venue. While researching wedding venues we stumbled across Lionscrest Manor, and once we stepped foot on the property we knew it was the perfect venue for us. We both love to ski and be in the mountains and nature, so Lionscrest had everything we were looking for. Not to mention all of the amazing staff that helped us plan every step of the way. We settled on our date being May 19, 2012. A beautiful time of year in Colorado.
The Wedding…
We are both very bright and fun people so naturally, we chose very vibrant colors. Raspberry, bright orange and different shades of green (chartreuse and lime) were the colors of choice. We wanted the flowers and colors to be the main focus and everything else to compliment the natural beauty of the venue and the flowers.

Lionscrest’s vendor list is filled with amazing professionals dedicated to making your wedding day so special. We chose Colorado Rose Cake Co as our cake and desserts vendor. Marci Perrotto is so talented and everyone loved the cake. The design was done beautifully.

Greens Point Catering was an easy decision as their food was wonderful and the staff was so helpful. Melissa Mayhew and the other staff members made the whole planning process so easy and enjoyable.

We chose Pure Sounds Productions as our DJ vendor. We were able to customize our entire playlists the way we wanted and that made it really special for us and all of our guests. Michael was so professional and fun to work with.

Boulder Blooms was an easy choice for our florist. We were instantly drawn to their eco-friendly nature and creativity in their floral arrangements.

We met Marsha Steckling with Evie Photography at the spring 2011 bridal show. We were immediately drawn to her stunning photos and laid back attitude. Curt always gets a little nervous around the camera and Marsha helped us both get comfortable, which allowed her to get some fantastic shots. We really enjoyed working with her and having her be a part of our day.

My bridesmaids and I had DeAnn Grasinger with The Bodacious Beauty come to glamorize us on the wedding day! We all agreed with we looked like the best version of ourselves. She did an incredible job and really helped make the day so special. Half the fun is getting ready with your friends and family!

We chose Tom Trujillo as our wedding officiant. He really took an interest in getting to know Curt and I as individuals and as a couple. He really listened to our ideas on how we wanted our ceremony to be and helped up make them happen. We feel very blessed to have found Tom.

Our wedding day really was the best day of our lives! It was so special and stress-free because of all the talented people at Lionscrest and our amazing vendors. Some of our favorite memories are of the intimate ceremony in such a beautiful space with all of our friends and family. Taking the pictures up on top of the mountainside behind the house together. We decided to bring fun hats, wigs, glasses, and boas for people to dress up in on the dance floor. That was really a hit with everyone! There was rarely anyone sitting down during the receptions because everyone was out on the dance floor having so much fun. Most of all we will always remember all the people who helped make this day so spectacular from our family and friends to all the wedding vendors that supported us in our planning process.  – Molly
