On October 21st Bob and Leona (owners of Lionscrest Manor) celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary. What an amazing 34 years it has been! I am sure that if you asked either of them on their wedding day what their prediction would be for 30+ years in the future they would have never guessed that they would own/operate a wedding and event center.

As an homage to the happy couple, we decided to play the “what would your wedding be like now” game and re-load their 70’s style into 2012. Here is our Mod 70’s wedding board for Leona and Bob. I think that this look is both fresh and modern with a throw back nostalgia for true disco diehards. Here is our break down…
Food: We love the idea of comfort food and portability. After all, when you are rocking it out in your platforms you don’t have time to sit for a formal meal nor would that match your eclectic style. We are featuring Grilled Cheese Sandwiches with Tomato Soup Shooters, French Fries a-Go-Go, Mini Hot Dogs, Short Stacks (pancakes) and Coffee and Donuts for that after midnight pick me up.
Attire: We choose this stunning lace-overlay gown from Cymbeline with a killer high slit to show off those dancing shoes. For bridesmaids, we loved playing on the original lemon and tangerine colors that Leona chose and went bold with this one shoulder dress from Dessy. For the men, we wanted a clean 007 take on the brown tux from the 70’s but modern that could take them from the ceremony to dance floor while looking debonaire.
Decor and Floral: We choose chocolate brown for the base so we could build in amazing pops of bright yellows, oranges and white throughout the reception. To top it off, no 70’s reload would be complete without a disco ball over the dance floor!

Whether you are planning your wedding for Fall, Spring or anything in between we think this new take on polyester and platforms is sure to appeal to the young and old. Congratulations to Leona and Bob, from your family, friends and staff we wish you both the best and may your next 30 years together be as bright as your first 30!
