So you’ve found Mr. or Miss Right. Now begins the hunt for the right wedding dress. We are sure that if you can find true love with your fiancee then you can and should find your true dress. Here is some information on dress styles and some vendors we recommend to help you find your true (dress), love!
The Right Gown
So What is the right wedding dress for you? Well how about we start with what Silhouette are you? The silhouette is the basic shape of the wedding gown. Remember, the dress should compliment you and your body style. Go with what showcases you, not what is the trendy style of today.
There are 5 main styles of dress…
Ball Gown: Like the Disney Princesses every Lionscrest Princess needs a fitted waist-line and full skirt. This style of dress has come back in popularity over the past few years and works well with many different body styles. Who doesn’t look good with a tiny waist!
The Sheath or Slip Dress: This style follows the line of the body and is form fitting. Many destination brides choose this style of dress for ease of transport when flying. For Lionscrest it works great for the girl who is looking to get out there and do a little hiking to get the best mountain views. Typically you do not see a train with this style which makes bustling a breeze.
Empire: With a high waistline that typically rests right under the bust line this style of dress again works well for most girls. Like the Ball gown the dress flows out from the waist but is not as full. This dress is one of the most popular styles that we see at Lionscrest. It offers a little bit of everything. Classic Bridal elegance, flattering to the body and moves well indoor and outdoor.
A-Line: An A-line shape has vertical seams flowing from the shoulders down to a flared skirt. The A-line dress is flattering on almost all bodies. The long lines create the illusion of height on a shorter body, as well as slim down a rounded figure. The full skirt of the A-line can also hide a larger lower body, or create the illusion of curves on a narrow frame. This dress is perfect for outdoor ceremonies as they typically offer a small train for effect but one that won’t leave you hauling back half of the pine cones!
Mermaid: This style is fitted on the body and then flairs out around the knees. We see this style growing in popularity due to the hit TV show, Say Yes to the Dress on TLC. While this is the new “it” dress style, make sure it works for your body. The mermaid cut is not for everyone and is best worn by slender figures, both short and tall. This style is made to hug the body and show every curve.
