Kassie and Todd were married at Lionscrest on September 25, 2010. Their wedding set many trends that we are now seeing for 2011: beautiful textures, natural setting, contemporary elegance, cool lounge settings and a touch of Hollywood Glamour. Every detail of their wedding was thoughtfully planned and executed by Kathy Vaughan with A Beautiful Memory.

Kassie's Hollywood Glamour look was stunning. She bought her ivory strapless gown from Felice Bridal in Denver.  Kassie customized the dress by adding a halter strap. Tucked away under her dress were rhinestone embellished Jimmy Choos. Kassie tied together the bridesmaids by allowing them to chose different styles of dresses.  The bridesmaids looked elegant in black.

Their ceremony was held in Lionscrest's outdoor ceremony lawn. The ceremony was elegant and romantic with a touch of whimsy. Jesse with Design Works transformed the natural setting into a romantic haven by adding a spectacular white gazebo and lining the aisle with ample white hydrangeas. Michael with Pure Sounds Productions along with our staff worked to time the bridal parties entrance. Kassie and Todd honored their nephews as ring bearers by naming them Lord of the Rings. The two boys entered into the ceremony to the theme song from the movie.

The couple wanted to provide a cool lounge setting in the cocktail space for their guests to enjoy. Design Works brought in white sofas, zebra lounge chairs, area rugs, glass cabarets and coffee tables to complete the look.  Guests enjoyed Bloody Mary's, a quesadilla action station and passed hors d'oeuvres.

The trend setting style of Kassie and Todd’s wedding continued into their reception. Kassie and Todd hired Design Works to bring in a mix of table shapes and sizes. Their reception was the epitome of contemporary elegance. The couple chose to use a variety of white flowers to create beautiful textures. Romantic candlelight invited their guests into dinner.

The event was catered by A Spice of Life Catering in Boulder. Spice always does any amazing job with their service, style and of course delicious food. Here is the menu from the event to tantalize your taste buds.

Passed Hors d'oeuvres:
Spedini
Stuffed artichoke hearts

After the toasting and desserts the couple and their guests danced the night away with the Celebration Nation Band.

As the event wrapped up, guests were greeted with a custom LED light up candy bar.  Kassie and Todd wanted their guests to enjoy some of their favorite candies as a thank you for sharing in their special day. Each guest grabbed a monogrammed takeout box  and packed it with sweet treats.

A Note from Kathy (Mother of the Bride and Coordinator with A Beautiful Memory):
It was important to me that I treat my daughter and her fiancé like any other bride and groom I work with and let them make the decisions.  My goal was for their wedding to be what they wanted and to reflect their personalities, not mine.  It was wonderful to be able to incorporate so many things I had done over the years in other weddings.  It was also very special to be able to have my own life event at Lionscrest Manor.

Colorado Fall Outdoor Wedding

Falling in Love with the idea of a Colorado Fall Wedding? Think crisp air, leaves changing, warm drinks, rich colors, hearty food and snuggling up with your new husband or wife. Sounds wonderful! We have compiled a list of ideas to help you plan the perfect Fall Wedding at Lionscrest Manor.

Lionscrest Manor Fall Wedding Photos

Fall in Colorado can be a season of contrasts. One day you are at 75 degrees and then the next there is snow on the ground. With a fall wedding you too want to build a wedding based on the idea of change.

An Eye on the Season

Sunset- Keep in mind when the sun is setting that time of year. You want to plan your ceremony typically an hour or two earlier than you would for a true summer ceremony. Taking advantage of the sun not only keeps you and your guests warm but it helps you to get the most time for photos on our 35 acres. Click on this Sunset Calculator link to find our what you are looking at for a specific fall date.

In and Out- Having a good indoor ceremony plan in case of fall chills and snow. If you are set on an outdoor ceremony make sure to prepare your guests. Letting them know about an outdoor ceremony gives them the opportunity to dress accordingly.

Nice and Toasty- Keeping guests inside with hot cider and coffee until the ceremony begins is a good way to keep them happy.

Fall Wedding Invitations and Placecards Theme

When having a fall wedding try to incorporate an image or motif that runs through out the event. Something as simple as a fall leaf, acorn or even pumpkin that is on your invitations, menu cards, placecards, bar menu, napkins and thank you cards. Going with fall colors also is a good way to set the tone. Deep reds, oranges, greens, browns get everyone into the fall state of mind.

When looking for your Fall color palette try to add an interesting twist to the traditional autumn color scheme - mix with golds, copper, bronze.

Mother Nature is a great inspiration for Fall. Many events utilize all of the Fall Harvest items like pumpkins, gourds, spices, leaves and such to bring about the classic memories we all associate with this season.

Fall Wedding Flowers

The Natural Element- When meeting with your florist discuss adding in fruits like apples, cranberries to your arrangements along with leaves, wheat, cinnamon sticks, pine cones and more. These subtle touches will again help to car through the fall theme on a natural level.
Instead of using traditional glasses vases try going with pumpkins, gourdes, terra cotta pots, apple buckets. A trip to the garden store or farmers market can be a real inspiration for new ways to use everyday items.

Tasty Delights

Family Style Wedding Reception Meal

Just because you are having a Fall wedding does not mean you have to serve turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy (not to say that you you can't). If you are wanting to go with a traditional fall cuisine try to add your own spin introduce a new way to have an old classic. Pictures above we have a Butternut Squash Ravioli with sage, brown butter and candied walnuts. Offer a pumpkin soup served in mini hollowed out pumpkins or plated salad with toasted pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries.

Family style – create a family feast by serving your guests with large platters table side instead of a traditional buffet or plated meal. To learn more about family style event go to our Family Style Blog.

Fall Wedding Cakes

Fall Wedding Cake

Orange Wedding Cake

Choosing cake flavors that use fall favorites such as pumpkin spice, apple cinnamon, or butter pecan again carry through the fall comforts we have all come to know and love. Fresh flowers or harvest items can be added to the cake to tie in your color scheme and motif.

Fall Wedding Gowns & Attire

 Fall Bride and Flowers

For the bride we recommend trying laces and vintage touches like family broaches, rich creams and striking bodices to off-set shawls that may be needed for the cooler evening.

Going with jewel tone bridesmaids dresses serve as a dramatic backdrop to the bold flowers.

For the men try going with a chocolate instead of the classic black. This throw back to the 70's ruffle suit is perfect for the modern man who likes to dress down or up depending on the occasion.

At the Bar

Colorado Fall Aspen Leaves

Instead of having a full bar with all of the hard liquor incorporate a few signature drinks that play off of the autumnal theme. Spiced rum punch, ciders, Irish coffees or your own family favorite will show your guests the warmer side of the day.
