Honor Our Military
Let's honor our military,
The men and women who serve,
Whose dedication to our country
Does not falter, halt or swerve.
Let's respect them for their courage;
They're ready to do what's right
To keep America safe,
So we can sleep better at night.
Let's support and defend our soldiers,
Whose hardships are brutal and cruel,
Whose discipline we can't imagine,
Who follow each order and rule.
Here's to those who choose to be warriors
And their helpers good and true;
They're fighting for American values;
They're fighting for me and you.

Jessica and Cameron were a great couple to work with. Their bright and fresh personalities shined through on their wedding day not only in spirit but in color! Tangerine, fuchsia, vibrant purple and crisp green apple tastefully weaved through out the event and evoke pure joy from the revelers.

Booking with us a year and a half in advance of their wedding day gave us a great opportunity to see their creative process and thoughts behind building their dream day firsthand. With the bold color palette they selected incorporated through the dresses, flowers, linens, and decor items (like up-lighting and chair sashes from Splash Decor), these special pieces added together to build a symphony of strength, passion and playfulness that really sums up their love for each other.

The couple also chose to incorporate their love for travel into the event through their place cards and table name markers. These items really added a personal stamp to the day that read like a road map of happy travels through their journey together as a couple. Each table presented guests with a snapshot into a special trip or moment in Jessica and Cameron's lives that can and will be carried forward in their life together as husband and wife.

The whimsy and cheer they evoked in their wedding day was no doubt soaked in by their friends and family. We too as vendors can even say that their reception brings a smile to our face when we look back.

A note on the Decor from Diane with Splash Decor...

It was really fun to be a part of Jessica and Cameron's wedding that incorporated such a bold, fun color palette in all areas of their event.  They used 18 up-lights illuminating the cocktail area, buffet room, upper and lower ballroom each in one of their four wedding colors (Orange, Purple, Pink and Lime Green).  They also used these four colors in the chair bows for the ceremony matching the Bridesmaids dresses.  Lighting was very important to this couple so in addition to the colored up-lights, they used cafe lighting in the ballroom, back patio and fountain areas thus creating a really fun atmosphere in all possible areas.

At the end of the night, friends and family left with memories and sweet goodies from the candy bar, and the couple exited with smiles on their faces and vibrant joy in their hearts. Wishes to Jessica and Cameron and their happily ever after!

On October 21st Bob and Leona (owners of Lionscrest Manor) celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary. What an amazing 34 years it has been! I am sure that if you asked either of them on their wedding day what their prediction would be for 30+ years in the future they would have never guessed that they would own/operate a wedding and event center.

As an homage to the happy couple we decided to play the "what would your wedding be like now" game and re-load their 70's style into 2012. Here is our Mod 70's wedding board for Leona and Bob. I think that this look is both fresh and modern with a throw back nostalgia for true disco diehards. Here is our break down...

Food: We love the idea of comfort food and portability. After all when you are rockin it out in your platforms you don't have time to sit for a formal meal nor would that match your eclectic style. We are featuring Grilled Cheese Sandwiches with Tomato Soup Shooters, French Fries a-Go-Go, Mini Hot Dogs, Short Stacks (pancakes) and Coffee and Donuts for that after midnight pick me up.

Attire: We choose this stunning lace-overlay gown from Cymbeline with killer high slit to show of those dancing shoes. For bridesmaids we loved playing on the original lemon and tangerine colors that Leona chose and went bold with this one shoulder dress from Dessy. For the men we wanted a clean 007 take on the brown tux from the 70's but modern that could take them from ceremony to dance floor while looking debonaire.

Decor and Floral: We choose chocolate brown for the base so we could build in amazing pops of bright yellows, oranges and white throughout the reception. To top it off, no 70's reload would be complete without a disco ball over the dance floor!

Whether you are planning your wedding for Fall, Spring or anything in between we think this new take on polyester and platforms is sure to appeal to the young and old. Congratulations to Leona and Bob, from your family, friends and staff we wish you both the best and may your next 30 years together be as bright as your first 30!

Brides, grooms, family and friends! It is time again for our Annual Fall Bridal Showcase. Please join us on Sunday October 21st from Noon to 3 pm.

Invitations will be going out soon so check your mail box. Don't want to wait? Get your RSVP in now for the Fall Show 2012 and complete the registration form.

This show is free to attend and highlights our amazing preferred vendors. The show offers you a great opportunity to sample food, drinks, desserts and get all of your questions answered by the top in the industry. CLICK HERE for a few of the vendors you can expect to see.

Happy planning and we look forward to seeing you at the show!

Planning your wedding is one of the most important things you will ever do. You will spend months prepping so no detail goes amiss the day of. While you may have dreamed of your wedding your whole life, sometimes couples have a hard time translating that dream into reality. That is where we and our amazing vendors are here to lend a hand! From food to entertainment, linens to limos we have gathered an amazing group that in truth has become a second family of sorts to us all. If you need assistance with finding the right vendors to help you bring your dream to life please go to our Vendor Resource page and let your imagination run wild!

One of the areas that couples are asking for more assistance on these days is the arena event decor. Whether you are working with a florist, design team, venue or just trying to bring in a little DIY there are many ways to spice up your reception without needing a Hollywood budget. Here are some photos of recent weddings at Lionscrest showcasing decor pieces that we either stock in-house or have been brought in by one of our design groups. Hopefully these photos will get the creative juices flowing on how we can help you to transform your own event space.

Lionscrest Party Lanterns- We carry these lanterns in house in a variety of colors and sizes. The cool LED lights inside add a nice glow to the room for dinner and dancing. First photo provided by Alive Studios. Second photo provided by Evie Photography.

Up-lights offer another way to bring in a pop of color to our venue. These lights wash the walls an varied hues and can be set in both the ballroom and cocktail space to create specific moods for you and your guests. While we do not stock these items in house you can get in touch with Diane at Splash Decor or Jessie with Design Works for a quote.  Photo provided by Broxton Art Photography.

Ballroom Drape- In house we offer many different draping styles for the ballroom. These can go to cover the columns with glowing lights underneath or be set as shown below as a focal point for the head table or indoor ceremony surround. Photos provided by Elegant Images Photography.

Cafe Lights and Tulle and Lights- These two classics are combined in the photo above and below to offer a soft romantic glow to the ballroom space. Whether you like them together or on their own each of these decor pieces blend with just about any event style. Cafe Lights provided by Splash Decor. Tulle and Lights by Reale Decor.  Molly and Curt are a true "Colorado" couple. Their desire for a mountain setting brought them our way and we could not be more pleased that the choose us to be the location for their wedding. Molly wrote to us with her take on not only her wedding day but the proposal and planning process as well.

The Proposal...

It was a beautiful Sunday in February 2011. One of those days that reminds you that spring in the mountains in right around the corner. I was a figure skater growing up and was always asking Curt to go ice skating with me. Well...on this particular day, I should have realized something was up because he asked me if I wanted to go skating in Evergreen on a pond surrounded by the mountains. Of course I was ecstatic at the thought of this actually happening and ran to get my skates.

I was getting tired from spinning and jumping and decided to sit down on the ice to take in the beauty of the day. I was giggling to myself watching Curt attempt to skate around in a circle. He looked like he was concentrating so hard. He asked me to come over to him, and as I was skating over to him, he got down on one knee and proposed! It couldn't have been a more perfect proposal!

The Planning...

Once we enjoyed a few weeks of engaged life, it was time to start the planning process by looking for the right wedding venue. While researching wedding venues we stumbled across Lionscrest Manor, and once we stepped foot on the property we knew it was the perfect venue for us. We both love to ski and be in the mountains and nature, so Lionscrest had everything we were looking for. Not to mention all of the amazing staff that helped us plan every step of the way. We settled on our date being May 19, 2012. A beautiful time of year in Colorado.

The Wedding...

We are both very bright and fun people so naturally we chose very vibrant colors. Raspberry, bright orange and different shades of green (chartreuse and lime) were the colors of choice. We wanted the flowers and colors to be the main focus and everything else to compliment the natural beauty of the venue and the flowers.

Lionscrest's vendor list is filled with amazing professionals dedicated to making your wedding day so special. We chose Colorado Rose Cake Co as our cake and desserts vendor. Marci Perrotto is so talented and everyone loved the cake. The design was done beautifully.

Greens Point Catering was an easy decision as their food was wonderful and the staff was so helpful. Melissa Mayhew and the other staff members made the whole planning process so easy and enjoyable.

We chose Pure Sounds Productions as our DJ vendor. We were able to customize our entire playlists the way we wanted and that made it really special for us and all of our guests. Michael was so professional and fun to work with.

Boulder Blooms was an easy choice for our florist. We were instantly drawn to their eco-friendly nature and creativity in their floral arrangements.

We met Marsha Steckling with Evie Photography at the spring 2011 bridal show. We were immediately drawn to her stunning photos and laid back attitude. Curt always gets a little nervous around the camera and Marsha helped us both get comfortable, which allowed her to get some fantastic shots. We really enjoyed working with her and having her be a part of our day.

My bridesmaids and I had DeAnn Grasinger with The Bodacious Beauty come to glamorize us on the wedding day! We all agreed with we looked like the best version of ourselves. She did an incredible job and really helped make the day so special. Half the fun is getting ready with your friends and family!

We chose Tom Trujillo as our wedding officiant. He really took an interest in getting to know Curt and I as individuals and as a couple. He really listened to our ideas on how we wanted our ceremony to be and helped up make them happen. We feel very blessed to have found Tom.

Our wedding day really was the best day of our lives! It was so special and stress free because of all the talented people at Lionscrest and our amazing vendors. Some of our favorite memories are of the intimate ceremony in such a beautiful space with all of our friends and family. Taking the pictures up on top of the mountain side behind the house together. We decided to bring fun hats, wigs, glasses, and boas for people to dress up in on the dance floor. That was really a hit with everyone! There was rarely anyone sitting down during the receptions because everyone was out on the dance floor having so much fun. Most of all we will always remember all the people who helped make this day so spectacular from our family and friends to all the wedding vendors that supported us in our planning process.  - Molly

Thank you Molly, Curt and Family for inviting us into your life. We loved hearing your story and hope that sharing with others, will help them in their own wedding adventure.  Cheers!

This week we felt like sharing some amazing photos from Kameron Ahler Photography that he took of Monica and Jordan on May 26th, 2012. To go along with this photographic art we also selected a few love poems to inspire and hopefully bring a smile and warmth to your day.

~ By William Shakespeare ~

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate...
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

~ By Elizabeth Barrett Browning ~

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, -- I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! -- and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

~ By Robert Louis Stevenson ~

Lord, behold our family here assembled.
We thank you for this place in which we dwell,
for the love that unites us,
for the peace accorded us this day,
for the hope with which we expect the morrow,
for the health, the work, the food,
and the bright skies that make our lives delightful;
for our friends in all parts of the earth.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May God be with you and bless you;
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings,
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.

May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.

You have become mine forever.
Yes, we have become partners.
I have become yours.
Hereafter, I cannot live without you.
Do not live without me.
Let us share the joys.
We are word and meaning, unite.
You are thought and I am sound.

May the nights be honey-sweet for us.
May the mornings be honey-sweet for us.
May the plants be honey-sweet for us.
May the earth be honey-sweet for us.

This year is shaping up to be one full of vibrant colors, far away travelers and funky style. Wedding planners worldwide predicted that this year would be filled with copy cat weddings striving to match the formality of the Royal Wedding and mod glam of Kim Kardashian's 20 million dollar swanky soiree. Instead, what we are finding is that couples are much more interested in creating fun and unique weddings that focus on family, friends and their own life story. There is no rule book for these events, they are open to fresh ideas and trying something that has not been done before. They don't want to be a cookie cutter couples, they want to be matrimonial pioneers! Here are a few weddings that we have enjoyed and broke the mold in their own way.

Tuxes are so two thousand and eleven! Mike and his groomsmen rocked it out in skater shorts and Milena's maids were truly stunning in jewel tone shades from head to toe.

Kit and Kendall - May 6th, 2012

As a wedding vendor herself, Kit knew exactly what she wanted for her wedding and did not let a little rain wash away her wedding dream. Her amazing unique flowers, cowboy boots and succulent favors were just a few touches that she and Kendall added to put their own stamp on the day.

Yuriko and Takeshi - June 5th, 2012

With 13 lucky guests Yuriko and Takeshi traveled all the way from Japan to say "I Do" at Lionscrest. Family and cultural traditions were still represented with the use of paper cranes and a tea ceremony.
